Fur Fighters PC is a port of Fur Fighters released for the PC. It is a near direct port of the original version, though several improvements have been made to the game in the meantime.

The game also includes GameSpy Arcade, which would have been used to play Fluffmatches online.

Compatibility[]

The game is best played with frame limiting software, such as RTSS or the Nvidia Control Panel, set to 30 due to high frame rates running certain parts of the game too fast, thus making it impossible to complete the game 100%. Also, Cheats do not save correctly on certain platforms, forcing you to complete the task all over again whenever you close the application. If you're running this on something modern you should skip the DirectX 7 installation. You may also have to set compatibility to Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and Run as Administrator.

Fur Fighters supports Triple Buffer, 32bit Z Buffering, Bump Mapping, Dynamic Lighting, Trilinear Filtering, Transform and Lighting support, 32 bit rendering, texture compression and 3D & environmental audio.

If you want to play with a modern resolution/aspect ratio (only 10:9), use dgVoodoo. Install it by copying D3DImm.dll, DDraw.dll, dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to the game folder. Open the program and go the the DirectX tab were you can force a modern resolution. If you wish to have dynamic lighting/T&L set the video card emulated as either one of the GeForce cards or the Radeon. You can also force Anti Aliasing here, which can be enhanced on Nvidia cards to SGSSAA,TrSSAA, HSAA or a combination of them using Nvidia Profile Inspector. dgVoodoo also wraps to DirectX 11, allowing you to make use of Reshade or other post processing injectors, which can be used to apply effects like a Viggo's Revenge-esque cell shade filter (commonly called a "Borderland's filter" in Reshade circles). When actually launching the game be sure to select the resolution of 1200 x 768 as this is the only 10:9 widescreen resolution, others only being 4:3. If you select any of the other resolutions your image will be stretched. Unfortunately if you have an ultrawide monitor you'll have to live with either some stretching or black boarders as only 4:3 and 10:9 aspect ratios are supported.

Creative EAX can also be restored with Alchemy or DSOAL. Aureal 3D can be restored with A3D Alchemy, Creative's official a3dx5 wrapper or the A3D-Live wrapper. For RAD Game Tools RSX 3D Audio, see this thread.

Minimum Requirements[]

  • PII 300
  • 32MB Ram
  • 16MB AGP 3D video card
  • Direct X compatible sound card
  • LAN or Internet connection for Fluffmatch play

Compatibility Issues[]

  • The game will not load on Savage IV cards, this is a driver problem with the card.
  • Dynamic lighting only works on cards with T&L support (GeForce and Radeon) even though the option is available on all cards.
  • GameSpy servers were shutdown May 31, 2014, making the installation of Arcade pointless. Direct IP and LAN should still work however.
  • If you look on the CD, many drivers are included for supported video cards. If you cannot find your cards drivers on the CD, sorry, but you will have to get them off the net.
  • Even though the game says a 16MB AGP card is required some lower spec cards do work, The Matrox G200 and ATi Rage pro cards (8MB AGP) seem to run the game OK.
  • The game does not work with Nvidia Optimus, a feature found mostly in laptops, due to it not being compatible with DirectX APIs older than 9, even with dgVoodoo.

Differences between Dreamcast[]

  • Minor map alterations to certain levels
  • Menu screen icons have been changed
  • Certain glitches are fixed, such as some of those found in The Bad Place
  • Most event scenes no longer replay
  • General corrections (such as Dinotopolis' incorrect spelling)
  • More Fluffmatches have been added
  • Fluffmatches can be played between up to 16 people
  • Hubworld tokens now count toward the full Token count
  • Bungalow and Juliette can no longer access the Unused Undermill Area
  • General aesthetic differences, such as alternate lighting
  • Chang's model in the Teleportation Device is no longer using an early model
  • A couple of Babies have been renamed
  • A few Gold Tokens have been moved around
  • Some sound effects have been altered.
  • Some different Cheats added

Patches[]

  • Windows Millenium Edition Installer Patch - Allows you to install the demo on a Windows Millenium Edition system.
  • Fur Fighters PC Patch - This patch fixes some issues with the text being displayed incorrectly in Spanish, French and German. It also corrects a compatibility issue when playing against the European version of the game in online Fluffmatches.
